{title: Whiskey in the jar}
{subtitle: Dubliners}
As [G]I was going over the [em]farfamed mountain,
I [C]met with Captain Farrel and his [G]money he was countin'.
I first produced my pistol and [em]then produced my rapier.
Saying, [C]stand and deliver for you [G]are my bold deceiver.
{soc}
Musha [D]riggedum diggedum dah,
[G]whack for my daddy-O, [C]whack for my daddy-O.
There's [G]whiskey [D]in the [G]jar.
{eoc}
He [G]counted out his money and it [em]made a pretty penny,
I [C]put it in my pockets and I [G]gave it to my Jenny.
She sighed and she swore me that she [em]never would betray me,
but the [C]devil take the woman for they [G]never can be easy.
I [G]went into my chamber, oh, [em]for to take a slumber,
I dr[C]eamt of gold and jewels and [G]sure it was no wonder,
for Jenny drew my charges and she [em]filled them up with water,
and she [C]sent to Captain Farrel to be [G]ready for the slaughter.
It was [G]early in the morning bef[em]ore I rose to travel up
[C]comes a band of footmen and [G]likewise Captain Farrel,
I then produced my pistol for she [em]stole away my rapier,
but I [C]couldn't shoot the water so a [G]prisoner I was taken.
They [G]put me into prison with[em]out a judge a writin',
for rob[C]bing Captain Farrel on the [G]farfamed Kerry Mountain,
but they didn't take my fists so I [em]knocked the jailor down.
And I [C]bade farewell to the [G]jail in Limerick town.
Now, [G]there's some take delight in the [em]fishin' and the bowlin'
and [C]others take delight in the [G]carriage fast a-rollin'
but I take delight in the [em]juice of the barley and
[C]courtin' pretty lassies an the [G]mountains of Killarney.
